Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

  • Author: Rachel Summers
  • Total Time: 32 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Crispy air fryer bang bang shrimp tucked in warm tortillas and topped with a zesty, creamy sauce – the ultimate easy seafood lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large raw shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 8 small (6-inch) flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Season shrimp with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Set up breading station: Place cornstarch in first shallow bowl, beaten eggs in second, and panko breadcrumbs in third.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in cornstarch, dip in egg, then coat in panko. Arrange shrimp on a plate.
  4. Spray air fryer basket with nonstick spray. Arrange shrimp in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Mist shrimp lightly with cooking spray.
  5. Air fry at 400°F for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and cooked through.
  6. Meanwhile, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey for the bang bang sauce.
  7. Warm tortillas in microwave or skillet.
  8. Assemble tacos: layer slaw, crispy shrimp, a drizzle of bang bang sauce, scallions, and cilantro in each tortilla. Serve with lime wedges.

Notes

For extra crispy shrimp, pat them very dry before breading. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and tortillas for a gluten-free version. Adjust sriracha for more or less heat. Add fresh mango or pineapple to the slaw for a tropical twist. If you don’t have an air fryer, bake shrimp at 425°F on a wire rack for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway.
