Description

These easy taco football snacks appetizers feature gooey cheddar cheese, zesty taco seasoning, and flaky crescent roll dough for a crowd-pleasing, bite-sized treat perfect for game day, parties, or quick lunches. Quick to prepare and endlessly customizable, they’re always the first plate to empty at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for dipping)
  • 1/4 cup salsa (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together cheddar cheese, taco seasoning, green onions, and jalapeño (if using).
  4. Unroll crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles.
  5. Place about 2 tablespoons of cheese mixture on the wide end of each triangle.
  6. Roll up each triangle, starting at the wide end, tucking in the sides as you go.
  7. Place rolls on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Brush tops with melted butter.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until rolls are puffed and deep golden brown.
  10. Let rolls cool for 3–5 minutes before serving.
  11. Arrange on a platter, sprinkle with cilantro if desired, and serve with sour cream and salsa.

Notes

Don’t overstuff rolls to prevent cheese leaks. Pinch ends tightly to keep filling inside. Use freshly shredded cheese for best melt. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent dough. Rolls can be assembled ahead and baked just before serving. Leftovers reheat well in the oven.
