Spicy Sailor’s Dip

  • Author: Rachel Summers
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A creamy, tangy, and spicy chip & dip party favorite inspired by classic sailor’s fare, featuring cream cheese, Greek yogurt, capers, smoked paprika, and fresh herbs. Quick to make, crowd-pleasing, and easily customizable for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 12 tsp hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp capers, drained and chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or dill)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup diced pickles (optional)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Take cream cheese out of the fridge and let it soften at room temperature (about 20 minutes). Chop garlic, parsley, green onions, and capers. Dice pickles and cheese if using.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and mayonnaise. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed to whip until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Sprinkle in smoked paprika, hot sauce, cayenne, and minced garlic. Add lemon juice and chopped capers. Blend again until combined.
  4. Gently fold in chopped parsley, green onions, and any optional add-ins (pickles, cheese) with a spatula or spoon. Mix just enough to distribute evenly.
  5. Taste and season with salt and black pepper. For best flavor, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let flavors meld (optional).
  6. Spoon dip into a serving bowl. Garnish with extra herbs or a dash of smoked paprika. Serve with chips, crackers, or veggie sticks.

Notes

For a lighter dip, use low-fat dairy or vegan substitutes. Adjust heat to taste with hot sauce and cayenne. Chill for deeper flavor. Add seafood for a true sailor’s twist. Serve with gluten-free chips or veggie sticks for dietary needs. If dip thickens in the fridge, stir in a spoonful of yogurt before serving.
